School Picture Day - Tuesday, March 25, 2025
*Makeups will be held at the end of picture season at an indoor location for all my school families that missed picture day. Makeups will be on May 17th in Fairfax City at The Studio Collective from 9:00-11:00. What should my child wear?
My advice for clothing is to avoid graphics (unless they are relevant to your child and their personality) or neon clothing. Neon colors sometimes add a strange tint to the skin in photographs and draw away from the child. Solid white sometimes looks gray and black can sometimes look washed out. Solids, neutrals, or simple patterns are always great for Fine Art School Portraits. Most importantly, you'll want to have your child wearing something that reflects who they are and their personality. Comfort is also important so that your child is confident and feeling good in what they are wearing.
Are siblings welcome?
Siblings are welcome! Please feel free to bring siblings along for portraits together and alone. Sibling portraits will be taken first so if you're planning to do them, please let the school or me know beforehand.
How will I order?
Within 1 week from picture day at your child’s school, you will be e-mailed the link to a private proofing gallery with a password for your child's photos. In the gallery, there will be 3-6 images of each child. Images will be in both color and black and white. I do not choose which photos you print or buy; you do. There is no obligation to buy anything but if you want, you will be able to order prints, canvas wraps, and digital files directly from the viewing gallery. The ordering process is simple and secure and done online. The gallery will be live for 7 days. Please note: ALL ORDERS MUST BE PLACED IN THAT SEVEN DAY PERIOD. You will receive 2 email reminders about galleries closing. Once orders have been placed, your photos and/or canvas wraps will be delivered to the school within 2-3 weeks.

I am a local family, newborn, maternity and school photographer in the Northern Virginia/DC/Maryland area. I am also a part time art teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. I love photography!
